Care center volunteer opportunity
The Care Center is a resource center that happens right here at Northstar on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month. At the Care Center, we provide community, assistance, connection to resources and encouragement to practically move ahead in life as we care for the whole person. Volunteers are needed to serve our guests as Table Hosts. This is an opportunity to share snacks and conversation around the table as we create a fun and encouraging environment at The Care Center. Training is provided for all of our roles. If you’re interested in serving, please contact Greg Knake at 513-205-5864 or at email@example.com or sign-up at the table in the café.
A Discipleship Huddle is a training group of 3-4 people that teaches discipleship strategies to help us be more intentional in living like Jesus. Huddles focus on learning to hear the voice of God. Huddles typically last 9-12 months and meet 2-4 times per month. They are both organized and organic while providing high challenge to change and high invitation into real relationships. For more information, please contact Adam Kasel at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Men's forged in fire event
Forged in Fire: Growing through Conflict As men, we tend to think of conflict as something that needs to be won, or something that needs to be avoided. But, what is God's purpose for the conflict in our lives? What if He has intended for it to be a process through which we grow and mature as Christ-followers? Many times, the way we approach conflict blocks growth and keeps us stuck. Join us at Northstar on Saturday, June 24th from 10-3pm, as we dive into how to have healthy conflict that leads to growth, change, and healthy relationships.
Serve with interfaith Hospitality Network
A Hot Meal. A Touch of Kindness. We are teaming up with St. Columban Church, one of our church partners at the Care Center, to work with Interfaith Hospitality Network. IHN is a local organization that helps local homeless families get back on their feet. St. Columban is a new host site for IHN and plans to serve three weeks of the year in 2017. Northstar has partnered for one of the days in July and Monday, July 24th will be the evening that we provide a meal and host the evening at St. Columban. There are lots of ways that you can serve. Specifically we need food preparers for 22 people, dinner hosts, and approximately 6 people to help set up the meal and serve. We will also have 4-6 evening hosts that will play with the kids and host other leisure activities, clean-up from dinner, as well as 2 overnight guests to stay with the group until the morning. Please call Shelly Karle at 513-722-6560 or email at email@example.com for more information or to sign-up to volunteer. Women's living in pursuit series
Encountering Jesus daily and having an intimate relationship with Him changes everything. But how do we pursue God? God calls us into spiritual disciplines to cultivate freedom from self and sin and to create authentic, enduring relationship with Himself. This summer, over the course of 6 weeks, we will hear from 12 Northstar women, each touching on a different spiritual discipline. We will meet on Tuesday mornings, June 20 - July 25 from 9:30-11am in the student room. Childcare will be provided for a minimal cost. Email Katie Reinhard at firstname.lastname@example.org by the prior Sunday evening if you will need childcare.
